Men’s Tennis Starts Season on a High Note

The Riverside City College men's tennis team kicked off its 2020 campaign on a high note Tuesday afternoon by facing crosstown rival Mt. San Jacinto College. Riverside got off to a strong start by taking two of the three doubles matches leading into four singles victories, thus handing the Tigers a 6-3 win.

Sophomore and reigning Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Player of the Year Gleb Mityurin picked up where he left off last year by defeating his opponent in two sets, 6-2, 6-0. Freshman Chris Lee followed with a victory at the number three singles at 6-1, 6-2. The air teamed up for the top doubles squad and cruised to an 8-3 win.

Freshman Aurelien Arlot was slotted as the number two singles as worked to a two-set victory at 6-3, 6-0. Freshman Matthew Stark worked to an easy win at the sixth position with scores reading 6-0, 6-2.

Riverside (1-0) will continue action at home on Thursday, January 30 against San Diego City College at 2 p.m.
