Kayne Trustfull Advances to Semis in CCCAA Individual State Championships

The Riverside City College men's tennis team continued action in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Individual State Championships this Friday in Ojai, CA. The Tigers saw all individuals advance to the round of 32, while all doubles teams advance to the round of 16. Despite the advancement, freshman Kayne Trustfull is the lone Tigers standing at the day's end as he advanced to the semifinal round.

Freshman Thomas Pidoux, freshman Elie-Noe Nicolay, and Trustfull all received a bye in the round of 128, while freshman Miles Clark had to earn his way through the bracket. He did so successfully by defeating his opponent with ease at scores reading 6-1, 6-1. However, he would fall in the round of 64 with his scores reading 7-6 (4), 6-4.

Trustfull cruised through the round of 64 by defeating his opponent 6-0, 6-0. Pidoux followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win, backed by a three-set victory from Nicolay reading 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. Nicolay would later lose in the round of 32 by the final score of 6-2, 6-0.

Trustfull and Pidoux continued to perform well as each advanced to the round of 16. Trustfull earned another two-set win by the final count of 6-2, 6-3, while Pidoux reigned supreme in three-set fashion by the final count of 6-2, 4-6, 6-1. However, he would fall in the round of 16 by the fainl score of 6-0, 6-4.

Trustfull advanced to the semifinals on Saturday with a round of 16 victory to highlight the bunch.

The Tigers did well in doubles play after they all received yes in the round of 128. All three pairs contisting of Trustfull/Pidoux, Nicolay/Miles, and freshman Sami Akouz/sophomore Thierry van Os advanced to the round of 16, but eventually all fell in the same round.
