Saddleback Slips by Riverside, 5-4, Tuesday

MISSION VIEJO -- With the match being decided on the penultimate singles match, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's tennis team dropped a narrow 5-4 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) road decision to the host Saddleback College (SC) Gauchos on Tuesday (Mar. 29).

Leading, 4-3, Saddleback decided the match with a win at No. 5 singles as Kian Saldi defeated freshman Matthew Tabanon (Feucherolles, FRANCE / Lycee Sonia Delauney), 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7). RCC won the final singles match of the day when freshman Stanislaus Bedrune (Ventabren, FRANCE / Lycee International Georges Duby) defeated Michael Park, 7-5, 5-7, 6-0.

RCC freshman Samuel Paque (FRANCE), who is pictured, along with Antoine Voisin, won their No. 1 doubles match, 8-6, and then Paque also won at No. 2 singles by the score of 6-4, 7-5.

With the loss, Riverside fell to 9-8 overall, 4-5 OEC, while Saddleback improved to 12-7 overall, 6-3 OEC.

RCC continues OEC action on Thursday, Mar. 31, when it visits the Fullerton College Hornets in a match beginning at 2 p.m.
