RIVERSIDE -- Clinching the contest with a victory at No. 1 doubles, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's tennis team edged the visiting Orange Coast College (OCC) Pirates, 5-4, Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 23) in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) at RCC's Fran Bushman Tennis Courts.

The team match lasted nearly five hours, ending at 6:55 p.m.

At No. 1 doubles, Samuel Paque and Antoine Voisin clinched the match with a victory. Trailing, 40-0, and down a break of serve at 8-7 in the set, they scored five straight points to break serve and force a tiebreaker to seal a win for the Tigers to open conference play.

With the win, Riverside (5-3 overall, 1-0 OEC) won its fifth consecutive match and is ranked No. 7 in SoCal, while No. 10-ranked (in SoCal) OCC fell to 6-2 overall and 0-1 in OEC play.

The Tigers continue OEC play on Thursday, Feb. 25, when they visit the Cypress College Chargers at 2 p.m.
