Tigers Win, 6-2, at Mt. San Antonio in Riverside's Season Opener

WALNUT -- Opening its 2015 season on the road, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's tennis team recorded a hard-fought 6-2 nonconference win over the Mt. San Antonio College (MSAC) Mounties Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 27).

Freshman Cesar Canizales got the Tigers (1-0 overall) started in the #4 singles spot and picked up the "Eco Boost Award" (completing the first match of the day with no waste – environmentally friendly) with a dominating win, 6-1, 6-3.

Newcomers Mathieu Willockx (Belgium) and Antoine Voisin (France) picked up victories at the #2 and #5 singles positions giving the Tigers a 4-2 lead coming out of singles.

Sophomore Conner Stephenson turned in a solid performance at the #1 spot and partnered with Patrick Stetco at #1 doubles to seal the victory for the Tigers.

MSAC (0-1 overall) has been a charter member of the South Coast Conference (since 1969).

Riverside will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. when it faces the San Diego City College (SDCC) Knights in a nonconference match at RCC's Fran Bushman Tennis Courts.
