Tigers Throttle Host Hornets, 6-3.

FULLERTON -- Keeping the hosts winless in conference play, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's tennis squad downed the host Fullerton College (FC) Hornets, 6-3, Thursday afternoon (March 27) in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) match.

Riverside (15-4, 7-2 OEC) sandwiched four singles wins in between losses and Nos. 1 & 6 singles to decide the match over FC (0-8, 0-8 OEC).

"RCC competed well in the middle of the line-up bringing home the victory over Fullerton," said RCC head coach Jim Elton.

"Freshman Sergio Romero earned the 'Eco Boost' award with today's most efficient, energy saving performance finishing his match just before Allen Tieu," added Elton. "The doubles team of Kane Wijngaarden and Allen Tieu sealed the team victory for the Tigers with a great win at the No. 2 doubles spot," concluded Elton.

The Tigers now prepare for their last Orange Empire Conference match against traditional rival, Saddleback College, on Tuesday, April 1, at 2 p.m.
