Riverside Romps Over Orange Coast, 8-1, in Conference Opener for Both

Riverside Romps Over Orange Coast, 8-1, in Conference Opener for Both

RIVERSIDE -- With a win in its conference lidlifter, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's tennis team made a convincing statement with an 8-1 home court win over the Orange Coast College (OCC) Pirates Thursday afternoon (February 20) in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) opener for both at RCC's Fran Bushman Courts.

Riverside (6-1, 1-0 OEC) lost only the No. 2 doubles match as OCC fell to 4-3, 0-1 OEC. RCC has won its last two matches after opening the season with four wins.

Sophomore Danny Garcia (Riverside / Arlington HS) got the Tigers started with his "Eco Boost" performance (requiring the least amount of energy) in taking down his opponent, 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 spot.

Freshman Patrick Stetco (Redlands / Redlands HS) sealed the win for the Tigers, picking up the fifth team point at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

With the win, both the RCC men's and women's teams will be competing tomorrow, Friday,  Feb. 21, at home against Mount San Antonio College in a non-conference match beginning at 2 p.m.
