Tigers Take Second Place in Orange Empire Conference Invite Meet #2 Friday at Fullerton

FULLERTON -- Winning three individual events and finishing second in seven others, including a relay, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's swimming team won the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Invitational meet #2 last Friday (Mar. 25), which was hosted by Fullerton College.

Golden West won the meet with 703 points, followed by Riverside with 479 points, followed by Orange Coast (410), Saddleback (329), Cypress (233), Fullerton (165) and Santa Ana (60).

Individually, RCC sophomore Adrien Deloffre (Dunkirk, FRANCE) -- who is pictured -- won two events: the 100-yard breaststroke (:58.61) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:43.40). Freshman Jakob Wood (Vista Murrieta HS) won the one-meter diving event (224.70 points).

Deloffre was second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.18) and Wood was second in the three-meter diving event (230.33 points).

Also finishing second from RCC were sophomore Alex Durham (Yucaipa / Yucaipa HS), who was runner-up in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.80) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:13.72), sophomore Justin Rohn (San Bernardino / San Gorgonio HS '14), who was second in the 50-yard freestyle (:21.65) and sophomore Garret Shimko (Riverside / Riverside Poly HS), who was second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.72).

Riverside also was second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:25.80).

RCC will next compete in its first home meet of the season on on Friday, Apr. 1, at 1 p.m.
