Men’s Golf Hosts Riverside Invitational

The Riverside City College men's golf team hosted the Riverside Invitational on Monday afternoon at the Victoria Country Club. The tournament featured 16 top community college competitors. The Tigers placed tied for eighth after earning a team stroke count of 384.

Riverside tied with Santa Barbara and Mt. San Jacinto with identical scorecards. College of the Canyons placed first with 363 strokes, while Reedley followed with a 369 stroke count to earn second place. Mt. San Antonio, Cypress and Irvine Valley tied for third place with a mark of 376.

Freshman Yarzar Aung led the Tigers with a two-over par at 74. After finishing the front nine one under, he continued on to record four birdies on the back nine. A triple bogie on the 18th hole was his achilles heel to his overall score.

Sophomore Jordan Reynoso and freshman Phyo Zan each recorded a 76 to tie for the second strongest score on the team. Reynoso was one over on the front nine that featured six pars and one birdie. Zan penciled two birdies on the front nine.

Sophomore Jared Jenkins followed with a 77, while sophomores Theoren Delehanty and Ben Delehanty finished in the low 80s.
