Tigers Win at Home with 364 Score; Lead Conference Standings

RIVERSIDE -- Winning at Orange Empire Conference (OEC) event on its home course, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's golf team is all alone atop the conference standings.

Riverside (17-3 in OEC match play) carded a collective team score of 364 at the Victoria Club (Monday, Mar. 27) to go 5-0 on the day against OEC competition. Orange Coast was next at 373, followed by Cypress (378), Mt. San Antonio (390), Saddleback (393), and Irvine Valley (400).

Currently, Riverside (17-3) leads the OEC standings, followed by Orange Coast (16-4), Cypress (14-6), Saddleback (8-12), Mt. San Antonio (5-15) and Irvine Valley (0-20).

Gaining medalist honors were James Hochsprung of Mt. San Antonio, who shot a 69, and sophomore Everett Najera (Corona - Corona HS '15) of Riverside, who also shot a 69.

Rounding out the rest of Riverside's finishers were freshman Brian Nielsen (Riverside - Poly HS) and freshman Michael Herrera (Moreno Valley - Valley View HS '16), who each fired a 72. Sophomore Nick Bridge (Riverside - Norte Vista HS '15) was next with a 74, followed by sophomore Robby Melton (Riverside - Citrus Hill HS '15), who shot a 77, and sophomore Jordan Sams (Lake Arrowhead / Rim of the World HS '10) shot a 79.

Riverside will next compete on Wednesday, Apr. 5, when it visits the Black Gold course for a OEC match hosted by Mt. San Antonio College. The match is a makeup which was originally scheduled for Mar. 22.
