Tigers Win Own Riverside Invitational Last Monday; Najera Fired a Three-under Par 69

RIVERSIDE -- Winning by eight strokes, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's golf team won its Riverside Invitational at Victoria Club last Monday (Feb. 27).

Riverside City shot 370 to finish first among 11 teams, followed by Orange Coast College (OCC) at 378, Reedley College (380), Cypress College (389) and Mt. San Jacinto (also at 389).

Irvine Valley College was sixth (390), followed by Palomar College (391), College of the Desert (393), Cuyamaca College (396), Saddleback College (396) and Mt. San Antonio College (412).

Leading the way was RCC sophomore Everett Najera (Corona - Corona HS '15) -- who is pictured -- who shot a three-under par 69.

Rounding out RCC scores were freshman Michael Herrera (Moreno Valley - Valley View HS '16), who shot a 72, followed by sophomore Nick Bridge (Riverside - Norte Vista HS '15), who carded a 75.

RCC sophomore Jordan Sams (Lake Arrowhead / Rim of the World HS '10) shot a 77, as did freshman Brian Nielsen (Riverside - Poly HS). RCC sophomore Robby Melton (Riverside - Citrus Hill HS '15) was next with an 80.

Riverside will next compete on Wednesday, Mar. 8, when it visits the Navy Golf Course in Seal Beach for an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) match which will be hosted by Cypress College at 9 a.m.
