Tigers Finish First at Home (Victoria Club) Last Monday

RIVERSIDE -- Shooting a season-low team score, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's golf team won an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) team match last Monday (Apr. 4) on its home course, Victoria Club.

Riverside shot a collective team score of 371, followed by the Orange Coast College (OCC) Pirates (382) and the Saddleback College Gauchos (382). The Cypress College Chargers (384) were fourth, followed by the Santiago Canyon College Hawks (386) and the Irvine Valley College Lasers (415). Orange Coast won the tie-breaker with Saddleback by having the lower sixth-man score (80 versus 85).

Leading the way were RCC freshman Jordan Sams (Lake Arrowhead / Rim of the World HS '10) and Cypress' Claudio Phillips who each fired an even par 72. Sams -- who is pictured -- had three birdies.

For RCC, freshman Everett Najera (Corona / Corona HS '15) is was next with a 73, which included five, count 'em, five birdies. Freshman Dylan Boughton (Mira Loma / Jurupa Valley HS '13) and sophomore Paul Bradvica (Riverside / Notre Dame HS '14) were next for RCC with scores of 75. Sophomore Colin McNie (Temecula / Chaparral HS '14) was next with a 76.

RCC  freshman Sean Jay (San Bernardino / Cajon HS '14) shot a 79.

The current OEC standings appear below.

Riverside's next match will be on Wednesday, Apr. 6, when it hosts College of the Desert in a non-conference match beginning at 12 p.m.
