Riverside Tigers Finish Fourth in Own Riverside Invitational Monday

RIVERSIDE -- With only five points separating the first five places, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's golf squad finished fourth at its own Riverside Invitational last Monday (Feb. 29) at Victoria Club.

The Reedley College Tigers won the match with a collective team score of 375, followed by Orange Empire Conference (OEC) member Santiago Canyon College (SCyn) at 376, College of the Desert (COD) was thir at 377, Riverside was fourth (379) and Mt. San Jacinto College (MSJC) was fifth (380).

Leading the next five teams were Palomar College (sixth place, 385), Cypress College (seventh, 388), Orange Coast College (eighth, 394), Saddleback (ninth, 396), and Irvine Valley (tenth, 408). Cuyamaca was eleventh (410) and Victor Valley was twelfth (420).

Gaining co-medalist honors were Ryan Mendoza (Santiago Canyon) and Nathan Brady (Mt. San Jacinto) who each fired a 70. In third place was Ryan Emery (College of the Desert) at 71.

Finishing in a three-way tie for fourth place (72) were RCC freshman Everett Najera (Corona / Corona HS '15), Michael Lascari of Santiago Canyon and Mike Schaloum (COD).

Palomar's Connor Sims and Kelly Cannon tied for seventh place with identical scores of 73.

In a three-way tie for ninth place (74) were Ben Hallam (Reedley), Sam Roles (Reedley) and Dylan Hall (Cypress).

Riverside will return to action on Wednesday, March 2, when it participates in an OEC match at the Navy Golf Course hosted by Cypress. Tee time is 9 a.m.
