Tigers Finish Fourth Twice at Riverside Invitational Last Monday and Wednesday

RIVERSIDE -- Posting a pair of fourth-place finishes in its first two matches, which also happened to be Orange Empire Conference (OEC) matches, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's golf squad is currently in fifth place in the OEC standings.

Last Monday (Feb. 1) on the South Course of Los Serranos CC in Chino Hills under very difficult weather conditions, Saddleback won the match with a score of 402, followed by Cypress (410) and Orange Coast (412). Riverside had a team score of 420, followed by Santiago Canyon (431) and Irvine Valley (446).

The Tigers' were led by freshman Jordan Sams (Rim of the World HS), who fired a score of 79 and had two birdies and freshman Nick Bridge (Riverside / Norte Vista HS), who shot an 82 with one birdie.

Last Wednesday (Feb. 3) on the North Course at Los Serranos under perfect weather conditions, Orange Coast won with a team score of 377, followed by Santiago Canyon (380) and Cypress (398). RCC shot a 401, followed by Saddleback (403) and Irvine Valley (412).

The Tigers' were led by Colin McNie (Temecula / Chaparral HS), who shot a 79 and had two birdies, Sean Jay (San Bernardino / Cajon HS), who fired an 80 and had an eagle and Sams, who had an 82 with two birdies.

Riverside returns to action on Monday, Feb. 8, when its participates in the "Pnoomonia" Invitational hosted by Victor Valley College at Spring Valley Lake Golf Course in Victorville. Tee time is 10 a.m.
