Tigers Shoot 373, Place Second in OEC Classic #2

Shooting a collective 373 at the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Classic #2, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's golf team finished second to the Orange Coast College (OCC) Pirates on Wednesday (Feb. 12) at the Los Serranos Country Club (par 74 course).

Orange Coast won the match by shooting a collective team score of 371 to forge a three-way tie atop the OEC standings at 12-3, along with RCC and the Santiago Canyon College (SCC) Hawks. SCC finished third, shooting a 378.

Rounding out the day's team scoring were the Saddleback College (Sadd) Gauchos (379), the Cypress College (Cyp) Chargers (380) and the Irvine Valley College (IVC) Lasers (408).

Zach Eddy (OCC) was the medalist with a low score of 70. Also shooting a 70 was Jake Reimers of Saddleback. Tying for third at 72 were Jonathan Collins (SCC) and Wes Hatton (RCC). Tying for fifth at 73 were Nico Mendoza (SCC), James Kim (Cyp), Drew Bradley (Sadd) and John Swierczek (RCC). Tying for ninth place at even par 74 were Michael Chen (OCC), Spencer Wilde (Cyp).

Rounding out the scoring for Riverside were Clay Hjulberg (75), Chad Hambright (76) and Eric Cross (77).

After three OEC matches, the conference standings are as follows: Orange Coast 12-3, Riverside 12-3, Santiago Canyon 12-3, Cypress 5-10, Saddleback 4-11, Irvine Valley 0-15.

Riverside will next compete on Friday, Feb. 21, at Soboba Springs.
