Tigers Light Up the Floor in Win over Irvine Valley

The Riverside City College men's basketball team continued to take steps in the right direction on Wednesday night in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) showdown. It was all Tigers throughout the majority of the game behind a 23 point showing from sophomore guard Andre Wilson (Colton, CA) leading to an 82-70 triumph.

Wilson continues to pace the Tigers with another strong offensive outing. His arsenal remains wide as he went 6-for-11 from the floor – five of those shots came from beyond the arc. While it may appear that he camps outside the three-point line and takes his shot, it is his penetration that draws an equal amount of attention. He worked his way to the charity stripe three times on the night and hit all six opportunities.

As a team, the Tigers shot exceptionally well by earning a season-high 60.9 shooting percentage. They went 11-for-19 from downtown. Sophomore forward Kane Daniels (Blythe, CA), who hit the game-winning three against Saddleback last Friday, went 4-for-5 from beyond the arc. Freshman guard Tian Daniels (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) splashed a pair of three balls home as well.

The passing game was on point with sophomore guard Brae Ivey (Huntington Beach, CA) pacing the team with 11 assists. He added a clutch 11 points to earn a double-double. Freshman guard Rico Tate (Memphis, TN) followed with seven assists. Freshman center Jordan Robinson (Riverside, CA) was very strong down low by notching 16 points on an 8-for-10 night from the floor.

The Tigers (12-8, 3-3 OEC) currently sit tied for third place in conference with Santiago Canyon (16-6, 3-3) and Copper Mountain (16-7, 3-3). They will continue their hunt for a conference title on Friday, January 26th as they face off against Santiago Canyon at 5 p.m.
