Ivey Flirts with Triple-Double in Comeback Victory over Long Beach

It was another positive step for the Riverside City College men's basketball team on Tuesday night as they hit the road to face off against the Long Beach City College Vikings in non-conference action. In a game that saw the Tigers down by a sizable margin early, Riverside worked to regain the lead in the late stages of the first half after facing a nine-point deficit. The battle heated up late in the second half after Long Beach regained the lead, but the Tigers remained poised and worked to snatch the advantage back thus leading to a 74-66 win.

Riverside shot lights out from the floor as they earned a shooting percentage of an even 60. While they did not have as much success from beyond the arc as they did in their latest victory against East Los Angeles, they dominated paint play highlighted by racking up 39 total rebounds. Additionally, they cashed in at the charity stripe.

The Tiger's defense was stout as they held the Vikings to a 23.7 shooting percentage from three-point range. Additionally, Long Beach shot well below 50 percent from the line.

Sophomore point guard Brae Ivey (Huntington Beach, CA) teased the stat sheet with the idea of a triple-double as he flushed 13 points, reeled in 11 rebounds, and dished out nine assists. His nine assists acted as a season high. He was as efficient as he has been this season by only recording one turnover – a season low.

Four of Ivey's assist found the hands of freshman forward Jordan Robinson (Riverside, CA) who finished with a double-double as well. He led all scorers with 25 points and racked up 11 rebounds. His 25-point showing acts as a season high highlighted by his 11-for-16 performance from the hardwood.

Sophomore guard Andre Wilson (Colton, CA) had a relatively quiet night, but still finished in double-digits with 12 points off just six shots. He went 4-for-4 from the free throw line to aide his total. Freshman forward Jared Stokes (Antioch, CA) led the bench in scoring with six points.

They Tigers (9-4) will return home on Saturday, December 30th to play host to the Ventura College Pirates at 1 p.m.
