Riverside Wins 11th Riverside Holiday Tournament in Program History

The Riverside City College men's basketball team pocketed two solid wins against Bethesda and Compton to advance to the 46^th Annual Riverside Holiday Tournament Championship contest against the East Los Angeles College Huskies on Saturday evening. In a contest that saw the Tigers up by six points after the first half, Riverside utilized a dominant firing arsenal from downtown to distance themselves en route to their 11^th Riverside Holiday Tournament Championship win by the final score of 72-63.

The Tigers have reached the championship contest 25 times in program history. The last time Riverside won the holiday tournament was in 2009 when they won the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) state championship.

Riverside's largest lead was at 21 points to prove their dominance. Four starters landed in double-digit points and led the Tigers to the victory.

The Tiger's guard play was very strong and was led by sophomore guard Andre Wilson (Colton, CA). He landed in double-digit scoring in each contest after flushing 18 points in the championship win. He utilized an 8-for-9 clip from the charity stripe and hit two three pointers. He was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Sophomore forward Kane Daniels (Blythe, CA) was electric from beyond the arc by hitting seven three pointers en route to a game-high 23 points. He was one rebound shy of a double-double after hauling in nine boards. He was named to the All-Tournament squad.

Sophomore guard Brae Ivey (Huntington Beach, CA) handled the point and finished with 14 points and five assists. He controlled the offense very well with Riverside only coughing up the ball 10 times – a significantly lower mark than the previous two games. He hauled in All-Tournament recognition following the victory.

Riverside paced the floor in numerous areas highlighted by a 50 percent three-point mark (12-for-24). They dominated the boards despite being undersized (44-35). Freshman forward Jordan Robinson (Riverside, CA) was the main factor on the glass by snatching a game-high 15 boards. He notched 10 points to earn a double-double.

The Tigers (8-4) currently hold a three-game winning streak and will play the Long Beach City College Vikings on Tuesday, December 12^th on the road at 6 p.m.
