Riverside Dominates Bethesda in Home Opener

Riverside Dominates Bethesda in Home Opener

The Riverside City College Tigers men's basketball squad played hosted to the Bethesda College Flames for its home opener in the 2017 Riverside Holiday Tournament. The Tigers unleashed on the Flames by outscoring them 41-16 in the first half en route to an 85-55 victory.

Despite having 17 turnovers, the Tigers took advantage of many open looks and fortunate opportunities. They shot 44% from the field and doubled the amount of rebounds the Flames hauled in (61-30). Riverside spread the love by dishing out a total of 20 assists with sophomore point guard Brae Ivey (Huntington Beach, CA) and freshman guard Tian Daniels (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) each notching six assists.

Sophomore guard Andre Wilson (Colton, CA) continued on his consecutive double-digit scoring games by flushing 20 points in just 20 minutes of action. He reached the mark at a rapid rate by penetrating the lane while hitting the long ball. He went 7-for-11 from the floor which included a 3-for-5 clip from downtown.

Riverside's bench ate up a lot of minutes in the contest with freshman forward Brandon Dorsey (Hesperia, CA) leading the bench brigade with 14 points in 16 minutes of action. He hauled in seven rebounds as well. Sophomore Demetrius Murray (Devore, CA) was a strong option and put together a well-rounded contest. He finished with nine points and nine rebounds.

The Tigers (6-4) will face off against the Compton College Tartars on Friday, December 8th at 7 p.m. in the semifinal matchup of the Riverside Holiday Tournament.
