No. 11 Riverside Routs Orange Coast, Wins Ventura College Tournament

It has been a strong start to the 2017-18 campaign for the No. 11 Riverside City College men's basketball team as they reached the championship table in the Ventura College Tournament this past Saturday. The Tigers utilized a strong opening half in the championship contest against the Orange Coast College Pirates en route to an 88-69 victory to earn the championship trophy.

The Tigers had everything rolling in the contest highlighted by a strong shooting percentage from beyond the arc. The Tigers capitalized with a 48.4% mark from three-point land versus the Pirates' 14.3% clip. Additionally, the Tigers took advantage of the Pirates turnovers by scoring 22 points off Orange Coast miscues.

The defensive initiatives were very strong as well. The Tigers out rebounded the Pirates 44-32 (14-9 offensive boards) and won the turnover battle.

Four of the Tigers' starters landed in double-digit scoring to prove the starting five is a force to be reckoned with.

Sophomore guard Brae Ivey (Huntington Beach, CA) paced the offense for the third-straight contest by flushing 28 total points, which was just a three-pointer away from matching his season high. He was a pair of rebounds away from recording a double-double as he reeled in eight boards. Furthermore, he dished out two assists and went 6-for-7 from the charity stripe.

Sophomore guard Andre Wilson (Corona, CA) finished with 17 points while going a flawless 5-for-5 from the line. Sophomore forward Kane Daniels (Blythe, CA) was hot from beyond the arc by snapping 4-of-7 attempts en route to a 16 point showing.

The Tigers (3-0) will take their undefeated record to Barstow on Tuesday, November 7th at 6 p.m.
