No. 13 Seed Tigers Host No. 20 Seed Cypress Wednesday in South Regional Playoffs First-round Game
RIVERSIDE -- Gaining a California Community College Athletic Association South Regional Playoff berth for the first time in four seasons, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's basketball team -- seeded No. 14 -- will host the No. 20-seeded Cypress College Chargers on Wednesday, Feb. 22, for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
Riverside City (21-8 overall) finished third in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) with an 8-4 record. The Tigers are coming off a 79-59 OEC home win over the Irvine Valley College (IVC) Lasers last Thursday (Feb. 16). In its penultimare game of the regular season, RCC topped Cypress, 75-58, last Tuesday (Feb. 14) at legendary Arthur N. Wheelock Gymnasium on the RCC campus.
Cypress (13-14 overall) finished tied for fourth place (5-7) in the OEC. The Chargers are coming off a 96-93 overtime loss at Santa Ana College last Thursday (Feb. 16).
Wednesday's winner will face the No. 4-seeded San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) Wolverines (23-7) on Saturday, Feb. 25.
