RIVERSIDE -- Andy Cleaves pumped in a game-high 23 points and three other Tigers also scored in double digits as the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's basketball team topped the Cypress College Chargers, 75-58, Tuesday night (Feb. 14) in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) game at RCC's legendary Arthur N. Wheelock Gymnasium.
Cleaves, a sophomore guard from Riverside (John W. North HS), was nine of 12 shooting from the floor, including five of six on three pointers for Riverside City (20-8 overall, 7-4 OEC, third place).
The Tigers reached the twenty-win plateau for the first time since 2009-10 campaign when that squad finished 23-7, one after the state championship squad of 2008-09 (30-7).
Brennon Palmer (Valencia HS) had a team-high 19 points for Cypress (13-13 overall, 5-6 OEC).
Both teams conclude OEC regular season action on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 5 p.m. as Cypress will visit the Santa Ana College Dons and RCC hosts the Irvine Valley College Lasers.
