RIVERSIDE -- Andy Cleaves had a double-double in the first half and Tramel Wilson also scored double-digit points in the opening stanza as the host Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's basketball team cruised past the visiting Orange Coast College (OCC) Pirates, 84-60, Wednesday evening (Jan. 20) in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) game at legendary Arthur N. Wheelock Gymnasium on the RCC campus.
Riverside (10-11 overall, 2-3 OEC) led, 45-29, at halftime.
Cleaves, a freshman guard from Riverside's John W. North HS, tallied 17 points and ten rebounds in the opening 20 minutes en route to 22 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Wilson, a freshman guard from Hawthorne (Los Angeles / Washington Prep. HS) had 16 points in the first half and settled for a game-high 26 points on ten of 15 shooting, including six three-point baskets.
Orange Coast (8-11 overall, 2-3 OEC), was led by starting sophomore forward Jamaal Lee (Washington Prep. HS) with 13 points and six rebounds. Freshman guard Lloyd Wright (Australia / Sacred Heart HS) added ten points for the Pirates.
Riverside returns to action on Friday, Jan. 22, when it visits the Irvine Valley College Lasers in a 5 p.m. tipoff to conclude RCC's first round of conference action before enjoying a bye on Wednesday, Jan. 27.
