Riverside City (12-5, 2-0 OEC) led from the start, jumping out to a 13-0 lead with 16:09 left in the first half and also had big leads of 17-3 at 14:32 and 32-16 at 3:54. In the second half, Cypress (5-14, 0-3 OEC) cut the deficit to 38-33 with 17:42 left in the game. But then RCC caught fire again and raced to a 52-38 lead with 11:04 left and held the Chargers at bay to rest of the way.

 

Four Tigers starters scored double digits in points, led by sophomore guards Shannon Fowler (Eisenhower HS) and Mason Biddle (Arlington HS) and freshman forward Anthony Rounds (Perris / Citrus Hill HS) chipped in with 12 points a piece for RCC. Rounds had a team-high eight rebounds and Biddle had a team-high six assists.

 

For Cypress, freshman forward Daveon Thomas a game-high 16 points and 12 rebounds. Davon Potts added 12 points and Chris Kapono chipped in with six points and a game-high seven assists.

 

Both teams return to action in OEC play on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 7:30 p.m. when Cypress visits the Saddleback College Gauchos and Riverside hosts the Fullerton College Hornets.
