Chavez, C. Johnson Earn SCFA player of the Week Honors

Sophomore kicker Ricardo Chavez and sophomore defensive back Carlton Johnson have earned Southern California Football Association (SCFA) Week Three Player of the Week honors following a commanding 33-6 victory over Saddleback.

Chavez had a career night by punching through four field goals featuring a career-long 54-yard boot in the second quarter. He began his night with a 53-yard field goal to put the Tigers on the board, backed by a 23-yard chip shot. He finished his night with a 48-yard send through the uprights.

Not only was he the offense's top points scorer with 15, he was dynamic on special teams. He punted the ball seven times for 277 yards and pin the Bobcats inside the 20 four times. He totaled over 500 yards on eight kick off and converted all three extra point tries.

Johnson, who was held out of week two action, came on strong in his Tiger debut highlighted by a 48-yard interception for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. He was one of three defensive back who recorded a pick and one of two players who return the interception t the house.

Furthermore, he recorded four solo tackles and one pass break up.
