After winning the 2019 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Championship and claiming the National title, the Riverside City College football team is ranked the top squad in the nation according to the 2020 Preseason College Football America Yearbook rankings.

The rankings are comprised of teams from the National Junior College Athletic Association and from the California Community College Athletic Association, the two major sponsors of junior college football.

Five of the top 10 teams are CCCAA teams. San Mateo, the 2019 CCCAA State Championship Runner Up, is ranked third overall. No. 5 Modesto, No. 6 Canyons and No. 8 Saddleback follow suit. No. 11 American River, No. 13 Fresno City, No. 16 Long Beach, No. 18 Ventura and No. 19 CC San Francisco round out the top 20.

The Tigers experienced a record-setting season after hauling in their first National and State Championship in 30 years. They ended the season on an undefeated mark of 13-0 with their final victory coming in the State Championship game against San Mateo.

Head Coach Tom Craft was named the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Coach of the Year following the championship ballad.

The 2020 Fall season still sits in limbo due to the ongoing and fluid Cornonavirus pandemic. The CCCAA Board of Directors will make a decision on returning to play on Friday, July 17.
