Vic Viramontes Verbally Commits to University of Minnesota

It was recently announced that Riverside City College football standout Vic Viramontes (Norco, CA) has verbally committed to attend Division I University of Minnesota after completing a phenomenal career for the Tigers. The decision was confirmed by a Twitter post and the RCC coaching staff.

Viramontes was arguably the most potent offensive threat throughout the entire California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) after posting monster numbers in all major offensive categories.

The 6-1, 230 lbs. quarterback was a forced to be reckoned with and it showed in numerous aspects. He ranked tops in the state in rushing touchdowns (21) and total rushing yards from scrimmage (1,346).  Furthermore, he ranked second in average yards-per-carry (7.4) and third in rushing yards-per-game (112.2).

The local talent led the Tiger offense the entire season as he passed for 100+ yards and rushed for 100+ yards in seven games. In four games, Viramontes surpassed the century mark in both rushing and passing. He recorded a season-high 224 yards rushing and five rushing touchdowns in a victory over Ventura in late September and followed with a season-high passing mark of 332 yards and five passing touchdowns in a Southern California Football Association (SCFA) first-round playoff victory against Ventura in mid-November. Additionally, he found the end zone on the ground in all but two games and threw a touchdown pass in all but two games.

Viramontes was named the SCFA Central Division Offensive Player of the Year and named SCFA Central Division Offensive Player of the Week twice on the season.

The Golden Gophers are a member of the Big Ten Conference and compete in the west division. They are currently sixth in the division with an overall record of 2-7. Wisconsin, Northwestern, Iowa, Purdue, Nebraska, and Illinois make up the remaining teams in the west division.
