Clifford Simms Named SCFA Central Division Week Eight Offensive Player of the Week
The No. 2 Riverside City College football team has solidified themselves as one of the top threats in the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) and the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). The Tigers hold an undefeated recorded at 7-0 and have won their first two conference contests. Mixed into the overall team success have been some strong individual performances. This past week, sophomore running back Clifford Simms (Compton, CA) has been named the SCFA Central Division Week Eight Offensive Player of the Week after his standout performance in a 49-3 victory over L.A. Harbor this past Saturday.
Simms led a strong ground attack by carrying the ball nine times for 135 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown run went for 55-yards leading to a 15 yards-per-carry mark. He is second on the team in rushing touchdowns with three and second on the squad in total rushing yards with 493.
Simms has been a consistent force for the Tigers in the backfield as he boasts a mark of 70.4 yards-per-game. He has rushed for more than 40 yards in all but one contest and missed rushing for a bill by a lone yard in a win over Bakersfield in week three.
