Vic Viramontes Named Week Four SCFA Central Division Offensive Player of the Week
It has been ever so evident that the Riverside City College football team's offensive energy has been flowing through the likes of sophomore quarterback Vic Viramontes (Norco, CA) since earnign the nod as the starter in week three. Even prior to being names the starter, the 230 Ilb brute of a quarterback has provided an energy that has been unmatched on the gridiron leading to a Southern California Football Association (SCFA) Central Division Week Four Offensive Player of the Week nod.
Viramontes earns the Offensive Player of the Week accolade after accounting for over 500 yards of total offense in a 42-34 victory over No. 14 Ventura last Saturday. The mobile quarterback carted the pigskin 21 times for a total of 224 yards to average 10.7 yards-per-tote. Furthermore, he struck aerially for five touchdowns off a 13-for-21 night leading to 284 yards. His distribution of the football was effective and far from choreographed as he completed at least one pass to seven players, while four of those receivers reeled in touchdown grabs.
Viramontes has been the primary weapon amongst various offensive dangers to prove many things – the power of the offense and the level the Norco High School graduate can elevate the offense. So far this season, Viramontes boasts a 30-for-50 mark through the air with 466 yards and seven touchdowns. His totals have led him to a quarterback efficiency rating of 176.5.
His run game is what opens up his passing game as he has already surpassed the halfway mark to 1,000 yards rushing. He has carried the ball 59 times for a total of 582 yards and six touchdowns. In all four contests, he has snapped off a run of more than 25 yards, highlighted by a 60-yard run in a 52-9 rout over Victor Valley in the season opener.
Viramontes rushing totals are tops in the state as he is tied for first in rushing yards-per-game with 145.5 and tied for third place in rushing touchdowns with six. His is fifth in the SCFA-Central Division in passing yards-per-game with 116.5 and third in passing touchdowns with seven.
