2018 STUNT Season Wrap Up

The Riverside City College STUNT Team finished the season this past Sunday at the Spring Break Tournament in Irvine, CA.  The Tigers finished with splits on the day.  They defeated Santa Barbara City College for the second time this season with a score of 16-9.  They then faced a strong Division I team in University of California and fell to them 16-9.  The Tigers complete their season with a record of 4-8.

The Tigers faced many ranked teams ranging from the Division I and II levels and performed well. They were undefeated against community colleges as they never lost to a two-year school.

This is the second full season of STUNT for Riverside. Last season the program finished ranked fifth nationally in Division II.

"Our athletes love STUNT. This new format of competitive cheerleading allows our athletes to highlight their stunting and tumbling skills in a head-to head game format.  As the sport grows, we hope to see more 2-year programs playing.  This will create competitive equity amongst programs" said Head Coach Rachelle Fawcett.

Riverside City College, in conjunction with USA Cheer, is leading the charge with the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) and is making preparations to submit a proposal to the governing body to gain emerging sport status at the junior college level in California.
