Baseball Earns 2018-19 ACBA All-Academic Team Honors

Following a season in which the Riverside City College baseball team compiled a 32-12 overall record and reached the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Super Regionals, the Tigers earned a prestigious recognition off the diamond.

The Tigers reeled in 2018-19 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence recognition for their strong performance in the classroom. In order to qualify, a team must possess a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.0 for the entire academic year.

A total of 296 schools were selected for the honor ranging from Division I, II, II NAIA, Junior College and High School teams. Of the selected schools, 21 junior college schools were selected and a mere three California Community College schools were selected for the honor. Furthermore, RCC was the lone ORange Empire Conference (OEC) team to receive recognition.

Riverside had a strong season after hauling in 32 wins which is the highest mark since 2009. A number of student athletes inked their NCAA National Letters of Intent including Ulises Caballero (Cal Baptist), Andrew Salazar (Campbellsville University), Brandon Ross (University of Hawaii) and Matt Happ (St. Louis University).
