Riverside -- In a game which required only 1:58 to complete, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers baseball team raced to an 8-0 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) home victory over the visiting Golden West College (GWC) Rustlers Thursday afternoon (Apr. 6) at Samuel C. Evans Park.

Riverside City (23-8 overall, 11-3 OEC) posted a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 2-0 lead. Red-shirt freshman SS Peter McEvoy (Colorado Springs, CO - Pine Creek HS '15) stroked a two-run single to get the Tigers on the scoreboard. McEvoy went three for five to pace RCC.

The Tigers added a single run in the sixth, thanks to a solo home run off the bat of sophomore DH Ryan Mota (Fontana - Kaiser HS '14), his eighth round tripper of the season. RCC put the game out of reach with a five-run eighth explosion. Sophomore RF Dean Miller (Riverside - Ramona HS '15) led off the frame with a solo home run to left-center field, his second circuit clout of the season.

He scattered five hits and one walk, while striking out three to improve to 6-1. Acosta induced 18 ground ball outs (two double plays) to aid his cause.

For Golden West (15-14 overall, 7-7 OEC), freshman 3B Zakk Morgan was the only Rustler to reach third base when he reached on a fielder's choice in the second inning, went to second on a ground out and advanced to third on a passed ball. Morgan also doubled in the fourth before leaving the game with an injury in the bottom of the eighth. GWC starting freshman LHP Troy Bethel went the first 7.0 innings and allowed three runs (earned) on five hits and one walk. He struck out three as his record fell to 1-2.
