RHP Delgado Goes the Distance in Riverside's 8-3 Home Win over Cuesta Friday

RIVERSIDE -- Sophomore starting RHP Angel Delgado pitched his first complete game of the season and freshman 1B Ryan Mota went three for four with three runs and freshman 3B Dean Miller went three for three with three RBI to help the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's baseball team to an 8-3 non-conference home victory over the visiting Cuesta College Cougars Friday afternoon (Feb. 19) at the Evans Sports Complex.

Delgado (pictured), who hails from Beaumont / Beaumont HS '13, tossed 96 pitches (72 strikes) and allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits, walked none and struck out seven to improve to 3-1 and avenge his season-opening 4-2 loss at Cuesta (Jan. 28).

Riverside improved to 8-2 overall.

For Cuesta (4-5 overall), Hunter Reade went two for four to pace the Cougars, who touched Delgado for three runs in the fourth inning to close to within 4-3. Starting RHP Brendan Jenkins went the first 5.0 innings and allowed seven runs (three earned) on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts as his record fell to 2-2.

Both teams return to action tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 20, in a 1 p.m. game at the Evans Sports Complex to complete the brief two-game series.
