RIVERSIDE -- Riverside City College (RCC) freshman 2B Austin Monte (Corona / Mater Dei HS) doubled with one out in the tenth and came around to score when he knocked the ball out of the catcher's grasp to give the RCC Tigers a 6-5 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) win in ten innings over the Orange Coast College (OCC) Pirates Thursday afternoon (Mar. 6) at the Evans Sports Complex.
Riverside (9-8, 3-1 OEC) sophomore SS Nick King (Palm Springs HS) hit a bouncer to SS for a fielder's choice (with five infielders) to send Monte home with the winning run. Monte had two hits and two runs for the Tigers.
Orange Coast (14-4, 2-2 OEC) was led by sophomore RF Tommy Bell with three hits and two RBI.
RCC sophomore relief RHP Tyler Leslie (Helendale / Silverado HS) pitched the tenth to record the win (2-0). OCC sophomore relief RHP Joe Reta took the loss (0-1).
