Riverside Sweeps Cypress, Santiago Canyon

Riverside City College grabbed two shutouts on Friday, defeating both Cypress College and Santiago Canyon College 5-0.

The Tigers improve to 7-12 and 6-3 in Orange Empire Conference action with the two victories.

Lanah Bergen and Audrey Elias won in two sets against both the Chargers (21-18, 22-20) and Hawks (21-5, 21-9), while Kyra Myers and Alyssa Bishop also picked up straight-set wins against Cypress (21-16, 21-16) and Santiago Canyon (21-17, 21-19).

Jada Cottom and Nina Peay battled back from down one set to power through a 2-1 victory over the Chargers (17-21, 21-9, 15-6), before winning in two against the Hawks (21-6, 21-12).

Esmeralda Aguilar and Kaylee Torres teamed up to secure the match sweeps for the Tigers, dominating the Hawks (21-4, 21-3).

Riverside heads to Orange Coast College on Friday, April 5, for another pair of matches, taking on Golden West College and host OCC.
