Beach Volleyball Earns Second Conference Win, Splits in Tri-Match

The Riverside City College women's beach volleyball team participated in a pair of Orange Empire Conference (OEC) matches today as they took on the Fullerton College Hornets and the Irvine Valley College Lasers. The Tigers defeated Fullerton, 3-1, but stumbled against Irvine Valley in a sweep.

The Tigers nearly completed a clean sweep, but fell in a three set-thriller in the second position. Freshman duo Nina Peay and Audry Elias earned a 21-15, 21-15 victory at the top, while sophomore tandem Hoku Goday and Mya Castro completed a two-set victory at the third position with scores reading 22-20, 21-6.

Freshman pair Jada Cottom and Katie Moore bagged a two-set win in the fourth position at 21-12, 21-17. Freshman squad Lanah Bergen and Azriel White fell in a three-set thriller with the third-set score reading 14-16. They dropped the opening set, 12-21, but had a strong 21-13 win in the second set.

The fifth match was not played.

All sets against Irvine Valley ended in two with freshman Kelly Moore and Kaylee Torres having the most success with a 14-21 loss in the final set at the fourth position.
