Beach Volleyball Edges Golden West for First Conference Win

The Riverside City College beach volleyball team traveled to Huntington Beach, CA on Friday morning to take on the Golden West College Rustlers in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action. The Tigers' bottom of the roster carried them to a thrilling 3-2 victory to snap an 11-match losing streak.

The lone two-set victory came at the hands of freshman Jada Cottom and sophomore Mya Castro. They cruised to an easy 21-19, 21-13 win to set the tone.

Sophomore Hoku Goday and freshman Kaylee Torres worked to a three-set win at the third position, while freshman duo Kelly Moore and Katie Moore followed with a three-set thriller. The second and third set went into the tiebreaker stage and they reigned supreme.

Freshman tandem Nina Peay and Ashley Elias held downt he top spot for the second-consecutive match, but were edged in two sets. Freshman pairing Azriel White and Lanah Bergen fell in three sets.
