Beach Volleyball Splits at Santa Ana, Etches First Win of the Year

The Riverside City College Tigers looked to zero in on their first win of the season as they faced off against the Santa Ana College Dons in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play and the San Diego City College Knights in non-conference action. Riverside was able to win their first match of the season by defeating the Dons, 4-1.

Head Coach Katie Roberts earned her first career win as the Head Coach after taking of the program this season.

Freshman duo Jessica Lepe and Ashley Elias-Romero teamed up at the top and got the job done leading to a 21-10, 21-18 victory. Freshman Mya Castro and Chloe Chistelman followed with a three-set win at the second slot reading 22-20, 11-21, 15-11, while sophomore Keeley Hober and Hoku Goday snagged a three set win at 21-19, 14-21, 15-21.

RCC's fourth win came via forfeit.

Riverside was slightly edged by San Diego City, 3-2. Castro and Christelman remained flawless on the day as they earned their second three-set win. They came from behind after dropping the first set, 19-21, and winning their last two sets 21-15, 15-10.

Hober and Hoku were responsible for the other win in two sets at 21-18, 21-10.
