Beach Volleyball Splits, Defeats Fullerton

The Riverside City College women's beach volleyball team is knocking on the door for a third-consecutive playoff appearance. They looked to continually move in the right direction as they faced off against a pair of Orange Empire Conference (OEC) opponents featuring the Irvine Valley College Lasers and the Fullerton College Hornets. Riverside split on the day by defeating Fullerton, but being swept by Irvine Valley.

The Tigers rebounded to take care of business with a win over Fullerton in their second match of the day. Sophomore Natalie Escher and Vashti Elias-Romero earned a victory as the top pairing. They cruised to a 21-13 set-one victory then battled to a 23-21 set-two triumph.

Freshman Sadie Arganda and sophomore Telanni Childs teamed up as the second pairing and took care of business handily. They earned a two-set victory with scores reading 21-11, 21-16. Riverside sealed the deal with a victory at the fifth position via forfeit.

The Irvine Valley match up did not bode well for the Tigers as each match was dropped via sweep.

Riverside (6-8, 4-4 OEC) will return to action on Friday, April 19 as they travel to Irvine Valley for the second-straight weekend to pay the Lasers and the Saddleback College Gauchos.
