Beach Volleyball Goes 2-1 in Home Opener

The Riverside City College women's beach volleyball squad hit the sand Friday at the Pearce Sports Complex in San Bernardino, CA for their home opener against Palomar, Pasadena, and NAIA competitor University of St. Katherine. After falling to St. Katherine by the final score of 3-2, the Tigers rebounded and defeated both Palomar and Pasadena via sweep to go 2-1 on the day.

In both wins, the Tigers won eight matches via straight-set sweep. Furthermore, Riverside halted their opponents to under 10 points in seven set victories.

Sophomore tandem Brittney Diffine (Riverside, CA) and Marcella Rodriguez (Belize City, Belize) acted as the top pair in all three matches. In both team victories, the duo won in straight sets with a 21-9, 21-6 victory over Pasadena and a 21-13, 21-17 victory over Palomar.

Freshman Lauren Dunmore (Northridge, CA) and sophomore Delaney Beck (Riverside, CA) held their own by not dropping a single set. They defeated Palomar by the final score of 21-9, 21-8 for their most impressive victory of the day.

Freshman Natalie Escher (Redlands, CA) and freshman Julia Balancier (Moreno Valley, CA) hauled in a pair of three-set victories as the number two squad, while freshman Madison Bogh (Highland, CA) and freshman Roni Lopez (Rialot, CA) earned a pair of straight-set sweep at the three position.

The Tigers (3-4) will continue action on Friday March 16th as they take on Santa Ana and Antelope Valley on the road at 10 a.m. and 12 noon, respectfully.
