Swimming & Diving Finishes Top-10 at 3C2A State Championships

The Riverside City College men's and women's swimming & diving programs competed in the three-day 3C2A Swimming & Diving State Championships this past weekend. The Tigers performed well on both sides with the women placing eighth overall and the men hauling in 10th place.

Freshman Anabella Storar paced the women's side with two top 10 finishes leading to 33 points. She placed fourth overall in the 1650 Free (18:31.71) following a sixth-place mark in the 500 Free (5:32.04). She rounded out her championship showing with a 12th place finish in the 200 Fly (2:22.69).

Freshman Jessie Nelson, who was named the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Female Swimmer of the Meet, earned 32 points and finished top 10 in each of her events. Her strongest showing came in the 400 IM (4:56.67) leading to a seventh-place finish. She began the meet with an eighth-place finish in the 200 IM (2:17.41), closed out by a ninth-place mark int eh 200 Breaststroke (2:32.82).

Sophomore Lauren Loffelmacher earned a pair of 11th-place finishes coming in the 500 Free (5:28.68) and the 400 IM (4:57.84).

For the men, freshman Elijah De Vera led the men's efforts with 30 total points. He placed sixth-overall in the 50 Free (20.90), backed by an eighth-place finish in the 100 Fly (51.19). He closed out is championship efforts with an 11th place mark in the 100 Free (46.44).

Sophomore Tyler LeDet had the highest finish amongst all Tigers with a second-place mark in the 500 Free (4:36.77). He followed with a ninth-place showing in the 200 Free (1:42.38).  Freshman Gerardo Garcia placed ninth in the 200 Fly (1:58.26), while freshman Alexandre Le Cornec finished 15th place in the 1650 Free (17:42.89).
