Spring Sports Indefinitely Postponed Effective Immediately

Due to the growing concerns of COVID-19/Coronavirus, the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Board of Directors have voted to indefinitely postpone spring seasons, practices outside of regularly schedule classes and competition for sports in their nontraditional seasons effective immediately.

Below is the official statement released by the CCCAA:

"Due to concerns over COVID-19, today, March 12, 2020, the California Community College Athletics Association (CCCAA) Board of Directors voted to postpone indefinitely, practices outside of regularly scheduled classes, and competition for all spring sports and those sports in their nontraditional seasons. The CCCAA Board understands the impact this will have on your student-athletes. The CCCAA will be working to minimize those impacts when it comes to student-athlete CCCAA eligibility, as well as at the four-year college level."

The decision came just before 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2020 via email following a meeting conducted by the CCCAA. The verdict to indefinitely postpone Spring sports and all nontraditional competition follows suit with the decisions made by professional organizations such as the NBA, NHL, NBA, XFL along with the NCAA & NAIA rulings.

The health and safety of the student-athletes, community and fans remains a top priority. As of now, there is no concrete information regarding the eligibility status of the student-athletes. It is a fluid situation and more information will be provided as we are updated.
