Cross Country Competes in Highlander Invitational against Various Levels

The Riverside City College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the UC Riverside Highlander Invitational on Saturday afternoon against a handful of competitors ranging from community college to Division I, II, and III opponents. The men placed 16th overall while the women placed 15th overall in their first race in two weeks.

The men rode the skills of sophomore Enrique Villa as he placed 23rd overall and was the top finisher for the Tigers. He crossed the finish line with a time of 25:15.0 encompassing an average mile time of 5:04.7. Additionally, he was the fourth best finisher in the community college standings.

Freshman Tyler Graves followed with a time of 26:20.4 as the second-best finisher for the Tigers, while freshman Kevin Lopez followed with a time of 27:12.1. Freshman Ricardo Cruz finished just behind his teammate with a clip reading 27:13.7.

The women were the fourth-best community college finishers leading to their 15th place finish. Freshman Aliy Camacho paced the Tiger pack with a clip of 19:30.3 to acted as the top RCC runner. Her time was good for 114th overall. She was backed by freshman Sujey Esteva with a clip of 20:05.2 and freshman Genesis Obispo with a mark of 20:12.2.

The Tigers compete in the Titan Invitational at Cal State Fullerton on Friday, October 19 at 5 p.m.
