Swimming & Diving Makes Waves at OEC Meet #2

The Riverside City College swimming and diving program hosted the entire Orange Empire Conference (OEC) in the second conference meet of the season. With multiple top-10 finishes, the Tigers worked towards a strong outing with the women placing second and the men placing third.

The women placed second with an overall point total of 520. Freshman Supave Nilaad was the top point getter for the Tigers with 45. She had her best finish in the 100 Breaststroke with a third place showing after touching the wall with a mark of 1:15.69. She continued on to place fourth in the 200 Breaststroke with a mark of 2:47.65.

Freshman Adrionna Gonzalez earned a total of 40 points highlighted by a trio of top-10 finishes. She placed fourth in the 100 Breaststroke with a clip of 1:19.17 and sixth in the 200 Breaststroke with a mark of 2:54.79. She began her day with a seventh place finish with a time of 5:39.50 in the 400 IM.

Freshman Monet Marquez placed in the top-10 in three Freestyle events highlighted by a fifth-place showing in the 200 Free with a clip of 2:13.29. She continued on to earn a sixth place showing in the 100 Free by touching the wall at a time of 1:00.87. Freshman Katelin Simonson finished in the top five in a pair of backstroke events highlighted by landing on the podium in the 100 Back with a third place mark of 1:11.38.

The men reeled in a third place finish by earning 467 total points. Freshman Javier Bernal was the top point getter with 50 and earned the gold medal in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:56.98. He began his day with as second-place showing in the 400 IM with a clip of 4:24.02.

Sophomore Farouk Zaoui earned a set of bronze medal finishes beginning with a time of 4:32.12 in the 400 IM. He capped his day with a 200 Fly time of 2:01.90. Both third-place finishes sandwiched a fourth place result in the 200 Free with a mark of 1:50.69.

Sophomore Daniel Long earned a second-place mark in the 1650 Free with a time of 18:06.03, while freshman Alexandre Piron placed third in the 200 Free (1:50.03) and the 100 Free (49.25).

The Tigers will continue action on Friday, April 6th where they will host the Riverside Invitational. The meet is set to kick off at 11 a.m.
