Tigers take 3rd at 2017 CCCAA State Championships

The Men's Track and Field team had a great CCCAA State Championship meet finishing third with 64pts behind Mt. Sac, 94pts, and the 2017 CCCAA State Champion College of the Sequoias who scored 127pts.  The Tigers did awesome scoring 64pts with only 11 young men and winning two induvial titles, eight All-Americans and two All-State performers.  The throws started the meet for RCC with Jordan Davis (Elsinore HS) coming in 5th in the discus, while Kyle Jenkins (San Gorgonio HS) came through on his last throw in the shot put to unleash a bomb of 17.47m/57'3¾, which beat the next closest competitor by almost 3 feet.  The distance also came up big for the Tigers with Michael Simpson (Canyon Springs HS) and Terry Jackson (J.W. North HS) coming in first and third in the 3000m Steeplechase.  In the 1500m Joshua Silva (Corona HS) and Alec Hall (Norco HS) came in second and fourth respectively, while in the 800m Joshua Silva and Cade Clark (Santiago HS) went two – four respectively.  In the triple jump, James Wilson (Alta Loma HS) finished fourth with a jump of 14.83m/48'8 earning All-American status.  Keeon Thomas rounded out the scoring with a sixth-place finish in the 400m hurdles.

"The Tigers had a great day at the state meet. We went into the meet having a smaller team at state than we usually have but the guys we brought really came up big with two individual state titles and 8 All-American performances. It has been a very strong year for the Tigers winning the State title in cross-country and placing third at the state championship in track and field. The distance guys really came through this year scoring 40 of the 64 points at the track and field state championship." – James McCarron, Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach
