Tigers get 2nd at So. Cal Finals
The Riverside men's track and field team competed in the CCCAA Southern California Regional Championships this past Saturday. The Tigers finished second with a team score of 104 finishing behind the Mt. Sac Mounties who won the So. Cal Championships with a score of 185pts. In the sprints, Korey Parsons (Martin Luther King HS) finished 8th while Christopher Shiley (Citrus Valley HS) finished fourth in the 400m. The middle-distance crew continued to impress with a 1-2-3 finish from Joshua Silva (Corona HS), Cade Clark (Santiago HS) and Ricardo Cardenas (J.W. North HS) respectively. The 1500m crew had another great showing with Joshua Silva finishing 3rd, Alec Hall (Norco HS) finishing 4th, and Christian Malloy coming in 5th. In the 400m Hurdles Keeon Thomas, and Anthony Butts (Ramona HS) finished 4th and 5th respectively. The Tigers also had Michael Simpson (Canyon Springs HS) finish in 3rd and Darvale Jackson (J.W. North) finish 4th in the 3000m Steeplechase. James Wilson (Alta Loma HS) finished 5th in the triple jump. In the throws, Kyle Jenkins (San Gorgonio HS) finished 2nd in shot and 3rd in the hammer, while Jordan Davis (Elsinore HS) finished 2nd in the discus.
The Tigers are back in action next week for the final meet of the year at the CCCAA State Championships at American River College.
