Lady Tigers compete at So. Cal Prelims

The Lady Tigers had a great day competing at the 2017 Southern California Prelims hosted by Cerritos College. The Tigers had 25 women qualify for the Southern California Finals next week at Cerritos.  In the sprints Tia Parrish (Martin Luther King HS) qualified in the 100m and both the 4x1 and 4x4 relays will advance to next week's finals.  Madeline Corner (Carter HS) qualified in both the hurdle races and will be joined by Dehjiah Joseph (Vista Murrieta HS) in the 400m Hurdles.  Sarah Hollis (Hemet HS) and Carrisa Gomez (Citrus Valley HS) both qualified into the 3000m steeplechase finals next week.  Hollis also ran in the women's 10k which was a final this week and earned 7th place which contributed 2 points to the women's score and may have qualified her for the state meet later this month at American River College in Sacramento.  Jali Barret (Long Beach Poly HS) qualified for the long jump, while in the triple jump the Lady Tigers had two qualifiers last year's CCCAA State Champion in the triple jump, Destinee Widgins (San Jacinto HS) and freshman Katelyn Baker.  The last qualifier in the jumping events was Danielle Spargur who qualified in the high jump.  Diamond Scott (Vista Del Lago HS) qualified in the javelin.  The women's discus had three qualifiers Mailani Thomas (Great Oak HS), Ca'may Stocker, and Ajah Wilson (LaQunita HS).  Women's hammer had three qualifiers Rachel Louis (Valley View HS), Jordaine Simmons (Mission Viejo HS) and Kori Sprague (Elsinore HS) who qualified with a new state lead in the event with a throw of 51.39m/168'7.  Women's shot put had three qualifiers Jordaine Simmons, Mailani Thomas and Ca'may Stocker.
