Lady Tigers win in their season opener against Sequoias and Diablo Valley

The Lady Tigers opened the 2017 campaign with a tri meet against the College of Sequoias and Diablo Valley College.  Riverside ended up on top with a 102.5- 40.50 victory over College of the Sequoias and a 126-15 victory over Diablo Valley.  The meet was a great opener for all three teams and was ran like an indoor meet with events like the 60m, 300m, etc.  There were some great individual performances by the Lady Tigers.  The Tigers had some great individual performances in the sprints and hurdles including Tatyana Pooler finishing 2nd in the 300M dash with a 40.58, and Tia Parrish finishing 2nd in the 60M with a 7.92.  Some other great performances were Madeline Corner winning the 400 Hurdles with a time of 66.83.  The Tigers also dominated the jumps with Keanna Theobalt vaulting 11', Shyann Thompson winning the Long Jump with 16'8⅖(5.09m) and an impressive early season mark from Destinee Widgins of 38'11(11.86m) in the triple jump.  The throws were also impressive at the tri meet where freshman Ca'may Stocker had a great triple in the throws 38'3½(11.67m) shot, 127'3 (38.78m) in the discus, and 126'2 (38.46m) in the hammer.  Fellow freshman Jordaine SImmions also had a solid performance in the shot-put throwing 37'6¾(11.45m) and sophomore Kori Sprague hitting 152'3 in the hammer.
