Bio

Nanyo Segura is entering his second season as an Assistant and Hurdles coach for Riverside City College. Coach Segura started his coaching career at Indio High School from 2004-2008 and led the Rajahs to three consecutive Cross Country all Desert Valley League championships and coached multiple League Champions, CIF qualifiers and one individual State qualifier Ankur Joshi. He was named Coach of the year consecutively and continued Indio’s High School tradition of winning dominance.Coach Segura was given the opportunity to be the Cross Country and Track & Field Head Coach at Vista Del Lago High School in 2015.. He went on to capture a league championship in 2018, became Coach of the year and had great success coaching the 2018 California State 110-meter hurdles champion Jaden Ellis with a personal best of 13.93 

During his first year as a Collegiate Coach, he coached the Orange Empire Conference Champion Dillon Lay in the 110 meter Hurdles finishing the season with a best of 14.93, also coaching him to a lifetime personal best of 53.60 in the 400 meter Hurdles. He Coached Madeline Corner to All-American honors finish at the CCCAA State Championships with a  lifetime best of 1:03.45 in the 400 Hurdles. He additionally coached the Southern California Regional Championship Runner-up & Conference Champions in the Women's 100 meter Hurdle race Shaqua'n Matthews to a lifetime personal best of 14.76 who was also an All-American at the CCCAA State Championships. He was part of the Men's State Championship team title and also captured the Women's Runner up Title in 2019.. He has also coached at the private level where he  brought much success to his athletes from all different levels.

His own running career started in middle school and eventually led him to compete for Indio High School from 2001- 2003 and was a successful middle-distance runner in the 400 meters and 800 meters with a personal best of 1:58.0 in the 800m. He was also part of breaking a 30 year old High School record in the 4 x 4 with a time of 3:23.1. He also ran Cross Country at College of the Desert and later attended the University of Long Beach State graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Studio Art with an emphasis in Art Education .Nanyo's coaching philosophy is simple. Progression over Perfection. He is a firm believer that everyone has the potential to get to the next level athletically and personally if they trust the process. Coach Segura is also a family and faith-oriented person who loves giving back to the community. He currently lives with his beautiful wife and three wonderful children  in the city of Rancho Cucamonga.
