Bio

Dennis Rogers has a reputation as one of the most respected and knowledgeable baseball coaches in the country.

Now in his 28th year at Riverside City College, Rogers took a once unknown baseball program and created one of the most successful and recognized community college baseball programs in the nation. Under his leadership, the Tigers won three consecutive California Community Colleges Athletic Association championships — 2000, 2001 and 2002. His three-peat was the second time in the history of the College (men’s basketball) that a team had won three consecutive titles. It was the third time in the history of California community college baseball history (Fresno, 1961-63; Cerritos, 1973-75). He also led the Tiger to the 2007 state championship.

Rogers, who is the Tigers’ all-time winningest baseball coach, is a sought-after speaker. He has been the featured speaker at national conventions and also served as an evaluator/coach for the USA Olympic trials in 1997.

He began his baseball career as a middle infielder for the legendary coach John Scolinos at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona in 1971. His All-California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) selection in 1974 drew the attention of the San Francisco Giants, who signed Rogers out of college. However, after only one season of professional baseball, Rogers suffered a career-ending eye injury. That injury, however, launched what would become a brilliant coaching career.

When Rogers took over the Tiger baseball program, it had produced just 28 wins over a three-year span. In his first year, Rogers produced a 32-win season, then a school record, and qualified for the state championship tournament. His development of young men has made him one of the most sought-after coaches to play for.
